Job Description

The role is responsible for conducting and coordinating sedimentological analyses, studies, and evaluations to understand local and sub-regional geology within Abu Dhabi. The position supports exploration activities, reservoir facies prediction, sedimentological modelling, petroleum system modelling, prospect maturation, volumetrics, risk assessment, and exploration well proposals.

Qualification

Bachelor's Degree in Geology/Geoscience or equivalent.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct and coordinate sedimentological analyses, core studies, petrographic and petrological studies, thin-section analysis, SEM photography, lithostratigraphy, and related investigations.
- Study the composition and structure of sedimentary rocks to classify deposits and establish sediment origins, relationships, geometry, contacts, age relationships, texture, and mineralogy.
- Prepare and update paleo-depositional and sedimentological models for exploration purposes.
- Integrate sedimentological results with petrophysical, petroleum engineering, geological, well, stratigraphic, and geophysical data.
- Monitor consultants involved in sedimentological studies and ensure the accuracy and quality of their work.
- Review previous sedimentological studies, identify data gaps, and recommend additional specialized studies.
- Conduct and supervise core descriptions and petrographic analyses to support sedimentological interpretations.
- Prepare paleo-environmental maps and data sheets for petroleum system models and support basin modelling activities.
- Participate in prospect volumetrics, risk assessments, portfolio ranking, and documentation of results.
- Liaise with geological and sedimentological software suppliers and remain current with relevant technologies and industry developments.
- Support regional data exchanges and geological studies involving companies and organizations operating around Abu Dhabi.
- Ensure quality control, calibration, updating, and receipt of corporate and exploration databases from service providers, Group Companies, SPC companies, joint ventures, and other third parties.
- Supervise, train, and develop assigned staff.
- Contribute to budgets, work plans, performance objectives, management reports, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Implement applicable policies, processes, standards, procedures, HSE requirements, sustainability guidelines, and ADNOC Code of Practices.
- Recommend acquisition of relevant exploration geology/sedimentology software and hardware.
