About Hunt Oil Company:
Hunt Oil Company (HOC) is an oil and gas industry company operating across the United States and internationally. The company operates 120,000 net acres in the Williston Basin and has interests in international oil and gas and LNG projects.
Role Overview:
Hunt Oil is seeking a Geoscience Intern for its Western Region Subsurface department in Dallas, TX. This is a paid summer internship with housing provided if needed. The intern will work within a multidisciplinary subsurface team focused on unconventional resources in the Williston Basin.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform subsurface geological interpretation of the Williston Basin in North Dakota and Montana.
- Work with the mixed carbonate Bakken-Three Forks formations.
- Support exploration and development activities for unconventional resources.
- Perform petrophysical analysis.
- Conduct structural and stratigraphic mapping.
- Create development plans.
- Perform data science analyses.
- Gain potential exposure to geosteering and drilling operations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or planning to pursue a thesis-option Master’s in Geoscience.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Proficiency in ArcGIS or other mapping software.
- Strong understanding of stratigraphy and sedimentology.
- Computer literacy.
- Pattern recognition and logical problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in an integrated, multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and areas of responsibility.
Preferred Skills:
- Data science experience.
- Petrophysics and well-log analysis experience.

Qualification

Currently pursuing or planning to pursue a thesis-option Master’s in Geoscience. Minimum 3.0 GPA required. Relevant areas include geology, petrophysics, and geophysics. Proficiency in ArcGIS or other mapping software and a strong understanding of stratigraphy and sedimentology are required. Data science experience and petrophysics/well-log analysis experience are preferred.
