Description:
The Valcol Group is recruiting an executive-level Exploration Geologist to lead exploration strategy and mineral resource growth across African operations. The role is focused on gold and copper exploration and requires a senior exploration leader with strong technical, strategic, commercial and leadership capabilities.

Key responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the company’s African exploration strategy.
- Identify high-value exploration opportunities, partnerships, acquisitions and joint ventures.
- Drive resource growth, discoveries and replacement ounces through systematic exploration.
- Lead drilling, target generation, geological modelling and resource definition programmes.
- Manage exploration budgets, contractors, consultants and technical partners.
- Provide technical leadership across exploration geology and resource development.
- Ensure compliance with JORC, SK1300 and recognised industry standards.
- Introduce innovative exploration technologies, data analytics and geological modelling.
- Build and mentor a high-performing exploration team.
- Support investment decisions, feasibility studies and technical due diligence.

Required experience and skills:
- 15+ years of mineral exploration experience, including significant senior leadership exposure.
- Proven track record in gold and copper discovery and resource development.
- Extensive experience working across African exploration environments.
- Strong expertise in exploration strategy, drilling, target generation and resource definition.
- Experience in project evaluation, feasibility studies and M&A technical due diligence.
- Strong strategic, commercial and executive-level leadership capability.

Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related discipline required; Master’s degree preferred. Professional registration with a recognised geological body preferred.
