Job Description
Newmont is seeking a Geologist for its exploration operations at the Ahafo North mine site in Ghana. The role involves executing exploration work programs safely and effectively, supervising exploration activities, monitoring performance, and supporting long-term exploration planning.
Qualification
Professional degree in Geological Science or a related field. Registration with a relevant professional body, such as PGeo, or eligibility for immediate registration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and supervise exploration work programs in line with approved objectives and standards.
- Monitor exploration performance against established KPIs and provide regular updates.
- Supervise contractors to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and exploration objectives.
- Deliver training and mentoring to geologists.
- Develop, plan, and schedule work activities over a 3-month to 1-year timeframe.
- Compile, assess, interpret, and report analytical results.
- Contribute to performance reviews and development plans for junior geologists.
- Assist in preparing and presenting group budgets, long-term work programs, and business plans.
- Report work program progress and follow up on recommendations.
Required Skills:
- Exploration program design and portfolio management competency.
- Ability to analyse complex data and derive meaningful insights.
- Foundational proficiency with Power BI, Tableau, and resource modelling software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to present technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Teamwork, collaboration, mentoring, and interpersonal skills.
